This treatment is most commonly carried out on the upper face to treat Frown lines, forehead lines & crows feet. Treatment temporarily paralyses the facial muscles, softening lines and wrinkles. Anti wrinkle injections using toxin are simple, safe and effective way to improve fine lines and deep dynamic wrinkles. There are two main types of lines/wrinkles Dynamic & Static.

Dynamic: Dynamic lines/wrinkles form as a result of muscle action and contraction. They are visible on movement and facial expression such as frowning, elevating brows and smiling. Anti wrinkle injections are used to treat this type of wrinkles by paralysing the muscle movement which cause the wrinkles to appear.

Static: Static lines/wrinkles are those that appear when the face is at rest, when the muscle is not contracting. Static lines will soften with the use of anti wrinkle injections but may not go away completely. However using anti wrinkle injections will prevent the muscles from contacting which in turn will mean static lines will not deepen or worsen. 

The most common arears treated with anti wrinkle injections are the muscles of the upper face:

• Frown lines: Wrinkles between the eyebrows most commonly referred to as 11’s.

• Forehead lines: Horizontal wrinkles that appear when we raise the eyebrows.

• Crows feet: Wrinkles that appear at the sides of the eyes when smiling or squinting in the sun.

Other areas of the face and body that can be treated with muscle relaxing injections:

• Chin dimpling: Dimples on the chin that appear during expression or talking.

• Turned down mouth corners: As we age the corners of the mouth begin to turn down giving the impression the person looks sad.

• Lip flip: To relax the lip muscle and turn the lip out

• Gummy smile: To relax the muscle above the lip so that the lip does not elevate when smiling this reduces the amount of exposed gum.

• Hyperhidrosis: Excessive sweating from the underarms.

• Bruxism: prevent teeth grinding, clenching & jaw line slimming.

Treatment

All clients will require a prescription consultation prior to their treatment this is pre-arranged with a specific date and time. The treatment is very quick and almost painless. The skin is prepared and free from make up (it is advised not to wear make up to any aesthetic appointment). Following an in depth consultation the treatment will take just a few minutes to complete.

How long does it take to see results?

Results are not immediate and may take 7-14 days before results can be seen. A review appointment is offered to all clients 2-3 weeks following treatment.

Longevity & Maintenance

Treatment longevity varies person to person and is lifestyle dependant. We can legally get a prescription re issued every 12 weeks. Muscle activity may return from as early as week 7. It is therefore recommended to have treatment every 12 weeks.

Aftercare

It is advised no make up or skin care products for 4 hours, avoid laying down or excessively bending down for four hours post treatment. Avoid exercise & heat the day of treatment, avoid sun/sunbed exposure, sauna, steam room and hot tub.
